Our Partnership with AquAid & The Africa Trust
At The 55 by Le Mirage, we believe in meaningful travel — the kind that not only leaves you feeling refreshed and inspired, but also makes a quiet, lasting impact somewhere far away.
So here’s something we’re genuinely excited to share: by simply choosing to stay with us, you’re now helping bring clean, life-changing water to a village in Africa.
A Little Choice With a Big Impact
Like many boutique hotels, we love the little details. Whether it’s the perfect linen or locally sourced breakfast ingredients, we make thoughtful choices every day — and that includes how we keep our guests and staff hydrated.
That’s where AquAid comes in. They provide the water coolers you’ll find around the hotel, and with every bottle we use, a portion is donated to The Africa Trust, a charity that builds Elephant Pumps — clean water wells — in rural African communities.
Without any added cost to us (or to you), this partnership is quietly changing lives.
We’re Now Sponsoring a Well
We’re so proud to share that The 55 by Le Mirage is officially sponsoring an Elephant Pump. That means an entire community will soon have access to fresh, safe drinking water — something many of us take for granted, but for others, it can change everything.
The well will be inscribed with our hotel’s name, and we’ll receive a photo, a certificate, and a letter from the people whose lives it touches. Honestly, we can’t wait to see it.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just a one-off thing. AquAid and The Africa Trust have built over 10,000 Elephant Pumps, helping schools, families, and whole communities gain access to something as basic — and vital — as clean water. They’ve raised more than £20 million so far, and it’s all thanks to businesses like ours choosing to work with purpose.
Boutique, But Bigger Than Us
We may be a small hotel, but we believe small choices can have a big impact. Supporting clean water projects is just one of the ways we’re trying to do good beyond our walls — and we hope it makes your stay feel even more meaningful.
